I don't understand why Spotify Unlimited doesn't work on WD TV Live streamer, but it requires a Premium subscription. It is just internet streaming, after all. Guess I'll go back to free Spotify and return WDTV, and go back to my (unfortunately, obsolete) Airlink wireless music bridge. Freekin greedheads. I've got a WD TV Live connected to my Marantz NR1403 and have been using the Spotify app that came with the WD. It seems OK, but navigation is difficult. The worst thing I've noticed is that a lot of the music seems bloated; there's just too much bass on many tracks.


Western Digital is launching WD TV Live, a WiFi streaming media player that features Spotify, a popular internet-based music service.
It was pretty easy to plug the two cables (HDMI and power adapter) into the small box and start to connect to the internet via WiFi (it is possible to do it via Ethernet as well), even though it was somewhat painful to login in my various accounts (internet access, Facebook, Spotify) using the arrows on the remote to navigate the virtual keyboard on screen.

Just like previous WD TV media players, the previous media player from Western Digital, WD Live TV offers a great range of services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Blockbuster, CinemaNow, Pandora, YouTube, and Facebook. WD TV Live is the first streaming media player to offer Spotify that gives access to 15 million songs.

In addition to web content, users can display a all kinds of media files on their HD TV screen such as photos, video and music that can be streamed from any connected USB drive, digital camcorder or camera, network drive, or any networked desktop computer in the home.
